About Gemstone

Gemstone Video was established in 2003 by Jhennifer Webberley, Barbara Abelar and Andrew Groves and is based in Burbank, California. Its mission is to provide high-quality video production services at affordable prices to the Southern California area.

With graduate and undergraduate degrees in film, television and theatre, Webberley, Abelar and Groves bring invaluable creative and technical experience in video and filmmaking to each Gemstone Video project. Webberley and Abelar met as undergraduates in Theatre at California State University, Northridge and have since worked together numerous times as film and theatre directors, writers and producers. Webberley met Groves at the USC School of Cinema-Television where they were both graduate students in Film and Television Production. Their creative partnership spans over a dozen short, feature and documentary films in the positions of director, producer, writer, editor and sound editor.

Gemstone’s method is one is based on a belief in organization while leaving room for flexibility and spontaneity. All video projects need to be planned carefully, but it takes experienced professionals to recognize and capture those unforeseen moments that make a project stand out. Gemstone videographers’ backgrounds in both fictional and documentary video and filmmaking make them ideal for the twin demands of this challenging process.
